Sharon Duggal – Author

Sharon Duggal is a writer, campaigner and a community radio broadcaster amongst other things. Her acclaimed debut novel, The Handsworth Times (pub. Bluemoose Books) centres on the struggles of a British-Asian family against a backdrop of unemployment, social unrest, neglected communities, incredible music and the healing power of direct action in 1980’s working-class Birmingham. The novel was chosen as The Morning Star’s fiction ‘Book of the Year 2016‘ and as the title for Brighton City Reads 2017.

I asked Benji to create a website that looks good but is simple for visitors to navigate and for me to manage. I also asked him to create something which could grow with me as my career as an author (hopefully) continues to progress. Benji absolutely met this remit from the off by creating a site that does exactly what I want it to. He is great to work with: generous with his creativity and vision; patient and efficient in responding to my ideas and amends; thoughtful and considered, with a keen eye for detail. Benji created my site quickly and, as he fulfilled the brief so accurately, the whole process has been smooth and cost-effective. I would highly recommend Benji as a designer without hesitation, and what’s more, he is a really nice guy too which is a bonus.
